Methodology
A percentile is useful only when the comparison set is fair.
150 Strangers benchmarks customer pages against peer pages in the same lane. Reference pages can be shown as aspirational examples, but they are not used as the customer baseline.
Test a pagePeer baseline
Peer pages are early-stage, indie, or small-product pages with similar buyer context. They create the distribution used for percentiles.
Reference ceiling
Reference pages are best-in-class or marquee pages. They help explain what stronger pages do differently, but they are excluded from peer percentile calculations.
Confidence flags
- Thin or blocked pages should be rejected before scoring.
- Novel domains with little public customer language should be flagged as lower-confidence.
- Percentiles should be recomputed when lane panels or anchor versions change.
